Wisdom Calls in the Quiet
A Secret Place
A Painting Description
As always you are free to interpret this piece however you choose or are led to understand it.
These are simply my own thoughts which I feel inspired to share.
My own interpretations change as I revisit with pieces as time goes on, but these are my initial thoughts at the time of creation.
I was sitting on a swing set, playing with some sweet little girls, and I asked them, “What is the best thing about being a kid?”
The five year old said, “Sneaking away from long boring conversations.”
The nine year old said, “Going on Adventures, and finding Secret Places!” I knew right away I wanted to incorporate their answers into my Inner Child Series.
This Acrylic painting, “A Secret Place” is about not losing your childlike wonder when it comes to exploring creation.
I hope this painting can inspire you to go on adventures and find secret places to sit at the feet of Our Creator and quiet your soul, listening for the whispers of wisdom in the wind. Time to find a secret place of rest, where The Redeemer lifts off your burdens & delights in your presence as you delight in the presence of Spirit. A unity with The Creator through the quietness of nature.
Sometimes it’s hard to put down our phones, even harder to quiet our thoughts, sometimes impossible to find time alone, but there is One who is calling you by name into secret places. In a secret place you will find secret things, your secret soul renewed by secret wisdom!
“Behold you delight in truth in my inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.”
~Psalm 51:6~
“At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, 'Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?' And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, 'Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me.' "
Matthew 18:1-5
I started noticing a grey-haired woman appearing in my paintings, I believe she represents lady wisdom. I have always desired to be an old wise woman one day, for wisdom is a sought out treasure!
“If you receive my words and treasure up my commandments within you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the lord and find the knowledge of God.”
~Proverbs 2:1-5
“That their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
~Colossians 2:2-3
“I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.”
~Isaiah 45:3~
“I relieved your shoulder of the burden; your hands were freed from the basket.
In distress you called, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah.”
~Psalm 81:6-7~
