This vortex is one that keep appearing in some of my recent work. Its meaning to my subconscious mind is one I have yet to fully comprehend. Although I can say it has something to do with meditation. I saw a vortex-like, yet invisible image, this winter while I was in the depths of despair, meditating every day away since I was too injured to do anything else. I've actually begun a new art collection called "Inner Worlds" and this piece is a part of it!

This is one of the first pieces I began when I was able to sit at my easel again, and although I didn't have a clue what I was painting, I put some yellow down on the canvas. As with most of my work, I allow an interpretation to arise naturally from within me. An interpretation that my inner being sees fitting for my present circumstances. As always, come up with your own interpretation, but here's mine:

This piece touches on "The One Thing" As Yeshua said, "Mary has chosen the only thing that is necessary" (and that was to sit at his feet instead of running around doing all the "good works" like her sister).

The One Thing is simply Presence. You could say Presence with the Divine, or simply Being Present. Whatever vocabulary words that resonate will be fit for the trick. After all, when speaking of the All in All, regardless of what words you use, we're talking about the same thing. There's only One Thing to talk about here! The One Thing, is the Only thing. It's the All in All, The Everything that is in everything.

For me, this piece illustrates the Unnamable. A form to represent the formless (the red sphere).

The yellow beams could be light, a simple manifestation of divinity. Everything holds light. Every single cell everywhere has aspects that cannot be completely understood or explained. Just google, "Do cells hold light?" I just did and here's an answer (cause that's the day and age we're in) "The proteins and DNA in your cells absorb light that has a wavelength of 200 to 300 nanometers long, which is shorter than the wavelength of visible light."

So basically, I see this painting as a picture of divinity. The life within all life. The formless giving form. The light within all things.

On a side note, there are also lots of symbols of transformation, including a human in a cocoon. This is because in those moments of despair, of which I had so many this winter, my mind kept going to the chrysalis again and again in hopes that I could see myself there, about to come out into the light. I felt so trapped in my body! I could not walk, sit, stand or lie down without incredible pain. My body was a cage, I couldn't stand being inside of it!! Not any longer? How long must I endure!? I felt some relief when I thought of my cage as a cocoon, one day I'll bloom!
