Abstract Original Painting
Sale Price: $125.00 Original Price: $175.00

Like any abstract, it has no seeming meaning. Even when I created the piece, I had no thought process in mind as far as any concept or emotion to bring out. But I'm sure my emotions got mixed up in there somehow.

I wonder, does it bring out any emotions in you? Or what does it make you think of? I'd love to hear, if you want to hit reply.

If you take a close look at this piece, you'll see some three-dimensional aspects, partially ceramic, which I sculpted, and partially a texturing medium. The piece is sealed with gloss, with the exception of the textured areas, which are sealed in matte.

Another fun fact is that there are four wires on the back of this piece, so it can be hung in any orientation: sideways, upside down! There really is no "right side up" with an abstract piece.

This piece took me a long time to complete, partially because ceramics take a while to fire, but also because I thought I was going to add crochet pieces to it and maybe even beads and things. But when I'm honest with myself, when am I ever going to do that?

I'm more drawn to painting than bead and fiber work. Although I used to crochet a ton. Something about adding crochet to the canvas just looked sort of crafty and less professional. But I'm sure if I had gotten a little more intricate with the crochet, I could have made it work.

It's not the first time I tried to combine crocheting and painting. One time I painted a granny square, and it dried very stiff and ugly. Haha.

Another time I wanted to crochet around a painted and cut piece of cardboard, and I'm not sure how that project turned out. I think it never got finished, for good reason.

I'm satisfied with this piece, "Burst-ish," and I hope you like it too!
