How to be Present

When was the last time you noticed yourself?

Look! Here you are!
You are right here, right now.

Can you be present in this moment, can you be present with yourself for a second?

I talk a lot about how to still find a "feeling good place" when things start piling up around you.

There will always be things to do and places to go. This goes on till the end of our lives. So why wait until everything is done to feel good?

Today, I really had to focus on my breathing to get present.

I felt a strange feeling that was hard to pin down, I'm sure it was some form of worry. The thing is, being present doesn't mean you feel perfect, it just means you can recognize yourself without judgement.
See yourself almost like a witness and know that whatever you are feeling is ok.
If fact it's much more healthy to be aware of how you are feeling, even if it's "messy", then it is to try to have a false sense of wellbeing by pushing it aside or getting distracted.

Wouldn't you rather have true equanimity than just looking like you are doing well?

Our brain is good with tricks but there's no sense in tricking yourself. Be honest with yourself in this moment.

Going for a walk really helped me reset.
It gave me time to think.
To count my steps.
To focus on my breathing.
I told myself, "I'm taking care of myself right now"

How could you do something similar?

And remember, things can wait.
