A friend gave me this canvas, saying, "Here, take this. Paint your feelings, that's the Artist's Way"

We had just got done with a heartfelt conversation. The title of this piece is a direct quote of what she told me then. I'm very thankful for the people in my life who are there for me to lend a listening hear.

Listening to someone is truly the best gift.

An artist herself, she happened to have plenty of canvases on hand when I said I'm out of canvases at her prompt for me to "paint my feelings".  Maybe I didn't feel like driving the hour and a half to get to the art supply store that day. Probably not.

Since this piece has an abstract element to it, I'll leave most of its meaning in mystery. However, I would love to mention that we tend to carry fear, hurt and sadness with us through many years. While creating this piece I gave myself the time and space to process it. I hope it can do that for its new owner and anyone else who looks.

Rember to give yourself space to feel. That's the only way to be free.

Although if a piece is truly abstract it does not hint at any subject matter. This one has broken hearts (that's not abstract, but symbolism can still be interpreted in an abstract way).

It is one of those pieces I started with no forethought, the blue lines were the first to grace the canvas. Interesting how many paintings I can think of that began this way without any planning beforehand. I guess it's my go to, but it really is the feeling behind that particular color and the swiggley lines that do it for me.
