Inner Worlds
This collection was born from the most challenging winter of my life. November 2022, I got injured while out skiing and reinjured again in March 2023. I spent most of my time in bed. Although I ended up getting very depressed, I also had a lot of time for inner reflection. The reflection continued for years as the wake of a life changing event left me grieving my broken marriage. Thankfully there's a “happily ever after” too as my husband and I made it through and are still together.
This body of work is like the dark night of the soul. With many ethereal vortexes appearing it touches on inner contemplation. Meditation starts to show its many faces, the shadows dug up from the subconscious, its mirroring illusions of false hopes shrouded in light.

This piece is about the difference we can embody.
That just means, we can live in such a way that it causes a difference in our life and in the lives of everyone around us.
It's about allowing our imposed barriers to fall down so that we are able to truly see. Through our focus (i.e. our spiritual sense of sight) we can live from our heart center. Listening to our heart's song!
We pray through our vision, and my prayer it painted out in the vortex coming from the eye, as seen.
In this visualization the prayer is for the connection of one person to the next and their powerful and lighthearted energy be expanding and growing, effecting the whole world.
There is a light of wisdom beaming up from the heart center and breaking down the symbolic walls in our minds so that we can actually see the freedom we have.
All this is all just refection on the piece....basically the piece is teaching it, haha.

This Ceramic Sculpture is hand sculpted with clay by Matilda Wentzel and is a one-of-a-kind piece.

Titled "Guarded" and based off of a pencil drawing created while I was healing from an injury and watching my marriage fall apart. At the time I felt rather guarded emotionally, with fresh emotional wounds having only recently been stitched up. A spiky collection of safety mechanisms.
